December Update

Posted:
Dec 06, 2017

We have now entered our fifth year of events and activities at the Pavilion. On Sunday 3rd December we were delighted to receive a visit from Lady Glenys Williams. Glenys was the first person to enter the Pavilion when it opened to the public on Sunday 1st December 2013. To mark the occasion Lady Glenys was presented with a small bouquet by the Chair of PACL, Tony Hazell. As well as marking our 4th anniversary, Glenys was visiting our Christmas Exhibition, a wonderful display of watercolour paintings and ceramics by Vale artists, Monjulee Webb, Gill Banks and Spencer Penn. This exhibition will continue until 17th December. Sunday also saw another highly popular Tea Dance. The plan for next year is to hold one each quarter.

During 2017 we are pleased to have been able to increase the range of activities and events taking place in the Pavilion. We now have twice weekly Tai Chi sessions run in conjunction with Age Cymru. On Tuesday mornings we have two dance classes run by Rubicon Dance, one for Parents and Toddlers from 10am until 11am and the other for Over 50’s from 11.30am to 12.30pm. The cost for each class is just £3 per person. We are currently in discussion with Rubicon with a view to increasing their activities next year.

The pop-up cinema run by Ben Rive is proving to be very popular. Ben has put together a series of Christmas screenings and full details can be found on our website under ‘What’s On’.

In November we held two very successful jazz evenings and also held our first ‘pop-up’ restaurant event. Details of future events will be placed on the web site in the New Year.

Finally, in the run-up to Christmas we have a number of additional ‘Kids’ Art Workshops’ taking place and in the final week before Christmas we have two Choir Concerts. On Sunday 17th December at 3pm we will once again be welcoming the Spectrum Singers and then on Thursday 21st December Caritas Choir will be paying their first visit to the Pavilion. This concert begins at 7.30pm and tickets for both concerts are available on our web site.

Thank you for your support in 2017, and we look forward to seeing you again in the New Year.
