Acoustic afternoon with Nick Treharne and Mark Scott

Acoustic Performance in the Pavilion- Free Entry
Nick Treharne – Nick is a self taught guitarist and began playing when he bought his first guitar aged eleven. Influenced in his early years by the songs of Simon and Garfunkel and subsequently by the rich fingerpicking guitar style of the late Isaac Guillory, his music is often delicate to the ear yet strong in melody. Nick has written and produced a cd of his own songs entitled “Somewhere People” and has also composed for male voice choir. He has played extensively in and around Penarth and is well known on the local music scene, having once been involved as a founding member of both the Penarth Songwriters’ Circle and the Penarth Acoustic Club.

Tom Scott – After some early dabbling with the cornet, piano and singing, Tom took up the guitar at the age of twelve, studying with a private tutor. Over the years, Tom has learned to develop his technique over a wide variety of genres from easy listening and jazz fusion to rock and even heavy metal. He has studied at the Academy of Contemporary Music in Guildford from where he graduated with distinction. He has a sound knowledge of music theory and this, matched with his ability to draw on different styles of music, proves invaluable when composing new work.

Nick Treharne and Tom Scott have been playing and writing music together since August 2017. Their repertoire consists of their own instrumental compositions and songs, and also includes work by mainstream artists such as Paul Simon and Tom Waits.
