Howl at the Pier Comedy Night

Howl at the Pier Comedy Night

Celebrate midsummer with a night of comedy at the Pavilion!

Another red hot line up this month:

NICK PAGE

Semi-finalist on Britain's Got Talent last year, Nick Page is at the top of his game. He is in enormous demand in comedy clubs throughout the UK, as a headline act and MC, and has been for the last 15 years. Last year he won English Comedian of the Year and performed 500 gigs.

With storytelling comics there's a moment where the audience asks themselves 'I wonder if that's true?'. With Nick there is more doubt, because the stories are so outlandish, and yet at the same time every story is true. His is a life lived laughing from disaster to disaster. Everyone has felt frustrated by the legal system, nobody else has tried to go to prison to prove a point. Everyone watches daytime TV, nobody else has been sacked from it for an incident involving a Russian call girl and an antique rocking horse.

"Roguish comic Page is a bear-like man with a fund of barely believable stories about life, love and brushes with the law" -Guardian Pick of The Week

"The very best story teller on the comedy circuit" -Rhod Gilbert

"A very fine man indeed" -Jo Whiley, Radio 1

"Cynical but hilarious" - Galaxy Radio

CHLOE PETTS

Chloe Petts's "inexhaustibly funny mind" (Diva Magazine) and "compelling presence" (Steve Bennett, Chortle) has established her as one of the most exciting acts on the circuit. She is an alumna of the prestigious Pleasance Comedy Reserve at Edinburgh Festival, has been shortlisted for the BBC Comedy Award, was a finalist in the most recent Leicester Square New Comedian of the Year Awards and runner up in Funny Women Awards 2017.

She was recently heard on BBC Five Live’s Fighting Talk and has appeared on Channel 4’s Random Acts and BBC 3 Quickies.

KAREN SHERRARD

"Her characters are well-observed, clever and funny....accomplished with the warmth and edge of comedians such as Victoria Wood and Caroline Aherne" (The Scotsman)

"You want to bottle Sherrard and take her home." (Colin Sell, BBC Radio 4's 'I'm Sorry I haven't a Clue')

"A fully loaded machine gun of endless gags, each shot more on the money than the last" (Matt Troy)

and your MC LORNA PRICHARD

BBC Sesh star Lorna was a TV reporter and news presenter before having a life crisis and turning to stand up. Since swapping headlines for punchlines, she has performed at Edinburgh and Leicester Comedy Festivals, won a comedy award in San Francisco, and MC'd many events from a TED talk and charity balls to festivals, a car rally and even a cat carnival.

"A warm and natural MC who puts the audience at ease." – Nick Page

"A really good comedian." – Lloyd Langford
